The clients wanted to update their third floor game room that hadn't had much attention since the '50s. They wanted a great place for family and friends to watch movies, play games, and generally keep the kids 'hanging out' at home.

We suggested a lighter color palette, painting the dark paneling rather than replacing it, and new cabinetry in a lighter, warmer wood. We recommended replacing the old square ceiling lights with modern round ones and incorporating a 4 zone Lutron GrafikEye dimmer to allow all the lighting to be controlled from a hand held touch screen.

In order to leave all the space in the lower cabinets available for storage, we located the electronics equipment in a custom rack to the left of the seating area. Access for service is through the closet door. This location makes it convenient to load a CD or DVD with out stooping down.

One of the coolest parts of the system and one the clients decided on first is a DVD management system. Visible in the rack is an Escient Fireball controller and 400 disc DVD changer. It makes managing a large video library simple—of course control for it is part of the custom programmed touch screen we included.
