You don't have to build a new home to have all the quality and convenience of the latest technology. In fact, more than half of our work is in existing homes. We like 'retrofit' work because it's a lot harder than new construction and we're good at it.

This lovely room is the result of an extensive remodel of a '40's farmhouse. The rich paneling and moldings are a nice counterpoint to the high tech HD plasma display. Three reference-quality in-wall speakers —left, center, and right channels — flank the display. The surround speakers are also flush-mounted in the sidewalls. A hand-held touch screen makes control of movies and music easy.

Just behind the door is a floor-to-ceiling equipment rack that serves the sitting room system as well as the whole-house music system. Each piece of equipment has a custom face plate to create a clean, unified look. (It also makes dusting a breeze.)

The rack was built into the wall adjacent to a wall-long bookcase. Access for service is through a secret panel in the back of the bookcase. We think our work in the room looks great but we admit the entire project benefited from the attention of one of the best cabinetmakers in the region, Vanguard Woodworks.
